The Microsoft 365 team has introduced an interactive canvas feature for Excel Copilot AI, enabling users to generate visual reports based on workbook data through natural language prompts. The canvas maintains a dynamic connection with the original workbook, automatically updating the reports when data changes. Currently, this feature is available to Microsoft 365 Insider beta users. After creating a report, users can still adjust the layout, highlight specific data, or change the presentation format through natural language conversations without redrawing the chart, and the dynamic view can be shared. Additionally, Excel Copilot has launched several new features: the Skill Builder allows users to create reusable skills based on workflows and instructions they provide, with a gradual rollout starting in October; the Skill Recorder enables users to demonstrate operations, which Copilot automatically organizes into skills, expected to be available to preview users by late October; the Get Data feature allows users to describe data sources and formats through conversation, reducing the need for manual Power Query query creation, set to launch on the Excel web version in mid-October; the Clean Data feature can identify issues such as duplicate records, inconsistent formatting, and data type errors, providing correction solutions, with a phased rollout already underway.
