On October 11, a groundbreaking Mathematics and AI Lab Alliance, under the leadership of Yau Shing-Tung, was inaugurated at Tsinghua University. This initiative seeks to unite approximately a thousand mathematicians and researchers to foster the seamless integration of artificial intelligence with mathematics and to drive interdisciplinary research forward. Yau Shing-Tung, a distinguished Fields Medal laureate and Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, is at the forefront of this alliance. He highlighted that, in harnessing AI to propel cutting-edge scientific advancements, China still trails behind the United States. Furthermore, he noted that China's prowess in large-scale model research has yet to attain global leadership status. The alliance's primary objective is to pool talent resources and independently forge specialized models tailored for the mathematical sciences, thereby propelling China to the forefront of this transformative field.
