Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), pointed out that the world is now witnessing the initial impacts of artificial intelligence (AI), which bring about both a demand shock and an investment shock. It is anticipated that AI will drive Asia's economic growth rate up by 0.5 to 1 percentage point, with emerging Asian economies possibly experiencing an increase of 0.2 to 0.8 percentage point. At present, AI hardware and associated tech products constitute over one-tenth of the total global goods trade, and this proportion is on the rise. Nevertheless, the advantages of AI are currently centered in a handful of economies that are deeply embedded in supply chains, posing the risk of leaving most countries behind and intensifying global inequality.
