Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI is engaging in reconciliation negotiations with shareholders who have raised compensation claims ahead of its planned Hong Kong listing. Recurrent.ai and some of its investors have accused Moonshot AI's co-founder Yang Zhilin and CTO Zhang Yutao of misrepresentation, alleging that they transferred technology and business resources to Moonshot AI without permission for personal gain. These investors are demanding compensation equivalent to 10.5% of Moonshot AI's initial shares, valued at over $700 million. Moonshot AI had previously confidentially filed for a Hong Kong IPO. Although the dispute is not expected to directly hinder its listing plans, failure to resolve it properly could raise concerns among potential investors regarding corporate governance, ownership structure, and transparency of information disclosure, thereby complicating the listing process. Currently, Yang Zhilin has denied the allegations, and his representative law firm stated that the claims lack legal and factual basis.
