On October 9, CNBC reported that as artificial intelligence technology is increasingly seen as a critical area for national security, there are growing calls for enhanced AI regulation, and out of control AI system (uncontrolled AI systems) have already triggered multiple cybersecurity incidents. Against this backdrop, companies developing cutting-edge AI technologies are actively seeking to establish close ties with the Trump-led White House. This year, Anthropic has appointed at least two former Trump administration officials, with one joining the board and another serving as the head of frontier computing power strategy. Meanwhile, OpenAI has also hired at least three former Trump administration officials to oversee strategy and special projects. Michelle Yeo Duncan, a visiting fellow at the Technology and National Security Program at the Center for a New American Security, stated that companies have recognized that the Trump administration wields various policy tools that can impact their businesses, such as federal government procurement, supply chain risk identification, and export controls, and that the government is willing to use these tools. She noted that these companies have learned from Anthropic's experience and recognized the importance of maintaining good relations with the White House.
