On October 8th, two major Japanese securities firms predicted that the rally in the Japanese stock market would continue until 2027, but investment in artificial intelligence could pose a potential risk. Nomura Chief Executive Officer Kentaro Okuda pointed out on Thursday that the market, stock prices, and corporate earnings are currently being strongly driven by AI investment, and if market sentiment towards AI shifts and the trend reverses, it could pose a significant risk. Daiwa Securities CEO Akihiko Ogino expressed similar concerns. Both executives believe the Nikkei 225 index will reach 80,000 points, but they differ in their timing predictions: Ogino expects it to happen this year, while Okuda anticipates it will reach around 75,000 points by the end of the year and surpass 80,000 points by the end of 2027.
