Bank of America, Citi, and Morgan Stanley are spearheading a monumental $60 billion debt financing endeavor to bolster Anthropic's acquisition of Google's AI chips through leasing arrangements. This transaction stands as the most substantial chip financing deal witnessed thus far. Within this framework, approximately $42 billion in senior secured loans, underpinned by Broadcom's backing, have commenced syndicated distribution. Meanwhile, an additional $18 billion in subordinated debt, devoid of Broadcom's guarantee, is slated for subsequent launch. Notably, Blackstone has pledged to furnish funding for roughly $9 billion of this subordinated debt segment. The funds raised from this financing will be earmarked for Anthropic's chip procurement in 2027, with lease payments commencing post-chip delivery. Furthermore, Broadcom stands to potentially receive up to $42 billion in convertible notes from Anthropic to offset associated leasing costs. This financing initiative is widely regarded as a pivotal transaction to gauge market appetite for AI-related debt.
