On October 6, according to the Financial Times, Bank of America, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley have initiated the distribution of a total of $60 billion in debt financing to support Anthropic in leasing Google's AI chips, marking the largest chip financing deal to date. Among this, approximately $42 billion in senior secured loans, backed by Broadcom, began syndicate distribution on Monday; an additional $18 billion in subordinated debt, not guaranteed by Broadcom, is expected to be launched later, with Blackstone having committed to funding approximately $9 billion of it. The proceeds from the financing will be used for Anthropic's chip orders in 2027, with lease payments set to commence after chip delivery. Furthermore, Broadcom may also receive up to $42 billion in convertible notes from Anthropic to cover related leasing expenses. This financing is seen as a crucial deal to test market demand for AI debt.
