AMD has successfully acquired AI startup World Labs, valuing the company at US$8.2 billion. Upon completion of this transaction, Li Feifei, the co-founder and CEO of World Labs, is anticipated to witness her net worth soar to a minimum of US$1.6 billion, marking an increase of over 50%. Earlier this year, in February, Li Feifei joined the elite club of billionaires after World Labs secured financing at a valuation surpassing US$5 billion. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, she commands approximately a 19% stake in the company.

Established in early 2024, World Labs is dedicated to the realms of spatial intelligence and physical intelligence, leveraging cutting-edge AI technology to construct simulations of physical spaces. These related technologies hold immense potential for application in the design and robotics sectors. Following the acquisition, Li Feifei will assume the role of chief scientist at AMD, while World Labs' research team and models will benefit from computational support provided by AMD.
