The 'Global Innovation Index Report 2026' published by the World Intellectual Property Organization highlights that artificial intelligence (AI) stands as a vanguard in propelling the advancement of cutting-edge technologies across diverse scientific realms. This technological leap is not only fueling innovation investment but also catalyzing government and corporate R&D expenditures to soar to unprecedented heights in 2025. According to the report, Switzerland, Sweden, and the United States maintained their leading positions in the Global Innovation Index in 2026. Simultaneously, emerging economies such as China, India, Vietnam, Turkey, Morocco, and Indonesia witnessed a steady ascent in the rankings. Notably, China broke into the top 10 of the Global Innovation Index for the first time in 2025 and sustained this achievement in 2026. The report further reveals that the actual growth in global R&D spending surpassed 3.3% in 2025, with corporate R&D investment experiencing a remarkable 5.8% surge, reaching a staggering $1.5 trillion—a historic milestone.
