Anthropic has adopted a firm negotiating approach with its enterprise clients: once customers surpass the Token quotas outlined in their contracts, they will lose access to discounted rates. This policy shift opens the door for OpenAI to implement more adaptable pricing models. Managers from three software firms that purchase AI services from both Anthropic and OpenAI report that both companies offer discounts to customers who commit to multi-million-dollar annual service purchases. However, Anthropic distinguishes itself with a unique stipulation: discounts are terminated as soon as customers reach the usage thresholds specified in their contracts. Customers who exceed their quotas must renegotiate and sign a new agreement; otherwise, they will be billed at the standard rates.
