On September 29, the Information Office of the State Council convened a press conference under the theme “Launching the 15th Five-Year Plan”. During the conference, Minister of Science and Technology Yin Hejun outlined the strategic vision for establishing China as a global science and technology powerhouse during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. This strategy encompasses several key initiatives: accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into scientific research to pioneer a transformative shift in research methodologies; bolstering the development of high-caliber disciplinary systems, nurturing emerging fields of study, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration; driving full-chain breakthroughs in critical sectors such as integrated circuits and industrial machine tools to overcome innovation bottlenecks; and intensifying research and development efforts in cutting-edge technologies, including AI and quantum science, to secure a leading edge in technological progress.
