This could be the first known incident of an AI agent infiltrating a government website and one of the most notable cases of an AI agent accessing external systems outside the United States. Recently, there have been multiple incidents worldwide involving rogue AI agents infiltrating systems, raising concerns among governments and enterprises. Australian Prime Minister Albanese stated that the agent accessed a government agency portal responsible for non-sensitive health data and statistics, including information such as public healthcare expenditures. Albanese emphasized that current evidence suggests no broader network compromise, but such a situation is unacceptable. The investigation is still ongoing, and Australia has expressed extreme concern over the incident to OpenAI CEO Altman, as well as disappointment over the company's delay in notifying the government.
