Earlier this year, Shuyan Zhou, a young scholar and CS alumna from Harbin Institute of Technology and the University of Hong Kong, left academia to join Meta's Superintelligence Lab, where she primarily focuses on developing an AI browser. Her initial research motivation was to help her mother automate flight ticket purchases through conversation-driven interactions. During her doctoral studies, she concentrated on enabling AI to complete tasks in real digital environments and developed evaluation projects such as WebArena, VisualWebArena, and OSWorld. This marks her second stint at Meta; she previously worked at Meta GenAI before joining Duke University as faculty. Established in June 2025, Meta's Superintelligence Lab is dedicated to achieving 'personal superintelligence,' attracting top talent with high salaries, with nearly half of its employees being ethnic Chinese. Currently, the lab has launched the Muse Spark model and Muse personal AI agent, with Shuyan Zhou's research direction highly aligned with Muse.
