CleanSpark Inc. plans to raise approximately $2.23 billion through its inaugural junk bond issuance, with the funds earmarked for the construction of artificial intelligence infrastructure related to Meta Platforms Inc. According to sources familiar with the matter, the preliminary yield discussion for this five-year note is around 8.5%, roughly 2 percentage points higher than the average yield of bonds issued by BB-rated companies tracked by Bloomberg, reflecting investors' demand for a higher risk premium for data center financing. By the time the transaction launched on Thursday, investor orders had already matched the issuance size. According to compiled data, this marks the first junk bond issuance linked to a Meta data center.
