Almost a year following the release of NVIDIA’s B200 GPU, which is built on the Blackwell architecture, its second-hand price has jumped by 58% compared to its original launch price. The residual values of second-hand A100 and H100 series GPUs also far surpass the projections from corporate financial depreciation models. This underscores the significant influence of AI computing power demand on asset valuation. The B200 is in high demand in the computing power rental market, thanks to its superior inference efficiency. Rental prices per hour for this GPU have risen by over 10% from January to August this year, and some suppliers are finding it challenging to keep up with the demand. Industry analysts foresee that the supply-demand gap may remain until the arrival of next-generation products. The unique market dynamics of high-end GPUs as investment assets are set to continue, with certain companies already integrating them into their strategic resource management plans.
