The initiative is projected to entail a staggering AUD 31.9 billion in investment, with the initial phase of computational capacity slated to come online by 2027, predominantly to bolster the operations of Anthropic's cutting-edge Claude model. The data center will enjoy direct connectivity to a pre-existing substation and will incorporate a battery-backed power management system. Furthermore, there are plans to forge long-term power procurement contracts with emerging renewable energy projects. However, the project's realization hinges on obtaining clearance from the Australian Foreign Investment Review Board and securing endorsement from the local council.
