WeChat is currently conducting small-scale tests of its "Xiaowei AI Social" feature. After users inform Xiaowei of their intent for communication, the two Xiaowei systems can engage in preliminary dialogue under user authorization. Subsequently, they will notify users when steps requiring selection or confirmation arise. This interaction occurs within an independent space, separate from the original chat interface. WeChat boasts an extensive network of acquaintance connections, thereby circumventing the need to tackle the cold start issue inherent in AI-driven social interaction—a key advantage in its pursuit of AI-powered social functionalities. This feature has the potential to lower the costs associated with transactional communication and could act as an early trial for Tencent's vision of seamless Agent interoperability. Previously, WeChat has evaluated Xiaowei's information processing and service invocation capabilities across various scenarios. This A2A (Agent-to-Agent) communication test integrates Agents into the human communication chain, transforming it into a "Human-Agent-Agent-Human" framework. Nevertheless, Xiaowei is presently in the grayscale testing phase, characterized by fragmented features and inconsistent performance. Furthermore, WeChat must carefully calibrate the extent of AI integration to prevent disrupting the original user experience and overstepping social relationship boundaries. Simultaneously, it is imperative for WeChat to clarify the role of AI within its platform, foster user trust, and delineate the responsibilities and rights between AI and human users.
