As reported by Bloomberg on September 8, China is strategically shifting its computing power hubs from the bustling eastern metropolises to the expansive western regions, with Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia leading this transformative charge. Capitalizing on its vast land availability and cost-effective green energy resources, Ulanqab has successfully lured a plethora of data center initiatives. Presently, over half of China's newly constructed and planned data center endeavors are situated in the northern and northwestern territories. By 2028, these regions are projected to outstrip major urban centers such as Beijing and Shanghai, emerging as China's preeminent computing powerhouses. Ulanqab has inked deals with 68 companies for 89 data center projects, boasting a computing power operation scale of 165,000 P, where intelligent computing constitutes more than 90%, thereby furnishing intelligent computing backing for the innovative progression of the AI sector.
