A senior U.S. Department of Defense official, Emil Michael, publicly refuted the 'doomsday theory' that AI could destroy humanity on September 10 local time, stating that such concerns stem from fear of change. He pointed out that the potential risks of AI can be mitigated through market mechanisms, industry collaboration, and government involvement. Meanwhile, Michael reiterated that Anthropic is still considered a supply chain risk by the Defense Department and revealed that approximately 90% of classified AI workloads have been migrated to other suppliers, with the remaining portion expected to be completed by the end of September. Previously, Anthropic sparked controversy by refusing the Defense Department's request for unrestricted use of its AI models, and litigation between the two parties is ongoing.
