On September 9th, according to U.S. media reports, the Indonesian AI infrastructure platform Zankore, backed by NVIDIA, signed a $3.1 billion loan agreement on Wednesday to procure advanced chips, highlighting the surging demand for computing power in Asia. Zankore stated in a declaration that Citigroup, ING Group, Natixis, Qatar National Bank, and United Overseas Bank underwrote the loan, marking it as one of the largest AI infrastructure financing projects in Asia, with Citigroup serving as the sole debt advisor. Currently, GPU financing is emerging as a new hotspot in AI lending, with banks and private credit shifting their focus from data centers to the hardware that powers them. In Asia, bank-led transactions are relatively rare due to uncertainties surrounding chip residual values and geopolitical risks associated with U.S.-China technology competition.
