Harrison Kim, the general manager of OpenAI Korea, revealed at a press conference in Seoul on Wednesday that significant progress has been made in the joint research and development and production of next-generation chips, though specific details were not disclosed. Samsung Electronics stated that it could not confirm information related to its customers. Kim pointed out that with the increasing application of advanced chips in computing tasks, the demand for memory chips will continue to rise, making cooperation with Korean semiconductor suppliers a priority for OpenAI in Korea. Additionally, OpenAI disclosed that as of the end of August, the number of ChatGPT enterprise users among Korean companies and institutions had surged approximately 27-fold compared to a year ago. By the end of last year, Korea had become the country with the most ChatGPT paid subscribers outside the United States.
