The AI-generated drug Rentosertib, developed by Insilico Medicine, showed signals of reducing the biological age of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in a Phase IIa clinical trial, as measured by six independently developed proteomic aging clocks. The most notable effects were observed in the group receiving 30mg twice daily, with some models predicting a reduction in biological age of approximately 3 to 4 years, and even close to 6 years. Originally designed to treat IPF by inhibiting the TNIK target, the drug is currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials to verify its efficacy and safety. Although the aging clocks provide clues about its anti-aging potential, the anti-aging effects are not yet fully validated due to limitations in sample size (42 participants) and observation time (12 weeks), and the predictive power of aging clocks remains scientifically controversial.
