Alibaba announced that its B2B business, 1688, will be integrated with Alibaba.com to achieve unified operations, with Zhang Kuo taking charge. Yu Yong, the former head of 1688, will be reassigned to another role within the group. This integration aims to leverage AI technology to combine the strengths of domestic supply chains and connect domestic and international markets. As Alibaba's earliest B2B businesses, 1688 and Alibaba.com focus on domestic wholesale and cross-border wholesale, respectively, and have been in operation for over 20 years. In the financial report released on August 20, Alibaba divided its e-commerce business into four segments, with the global wholesale segment covering both 1688 and Alibaba.com.
