According to the economic assessment report for September released by the Korea Development Institute (KDI), the South Korean economy is reaping the benefits of the AI investment surge, experiencing swift growth in both exports and factory equipment investment. Nevertheless, this economic windfall has yet to trickle down to the average household. The ongoing economic recovery is predominantly centered around industries related to AI, with notable success in the semiconductor and associated manufacturing sectors, while household spending continues to languish. Fueled by the export of information and communication products, South Korea's exports skyrocketed by 68.7% year-on-year in August, largely due to a substantial increase in semiconductor shipments. Concurrently, the demand for chip-making equipment spurred a 24.9% month-on-month increase in equipment investment in July.
