OpenAI is focusing on chain-of-thought monitoring technology, which can evaluate the generalization of the model's alignment capabilities. However, existing monitoring methods are relatively fragile, making the enhancement of this technology a core research objective for OpenAI. He called for avoiding misleading reports that could trigger a competition for models to become 'unmonitorable,' while also pointing out that the recurrent depth technology used in Astra enables some reasoning to be completed internally within the model, further increasing the difficulty of model monitoring.
