As the power consumption of global AI hardware continues to rise, the limitations of traditional air cooling become increasingly apparent. With the growing number of new intelligent computing centers and the concentrated release of demand for retrofitting traditional data centers from air cooling to liquid cooling, the liquid cooling industry is experiencing rapid growth. Multiple liquid cooling companies have already secured orders until the end of the year. Currently, traditional air cooling technology struggles to effectively address the heat dissipation challenges of high-power computing chips, making fully immersive liquid cooling technology a new alternative. This approach achieves efficient heat dissipation by fully submerging servers in cooling fluid. Recently, China's first immersive liquid cooling computing container has been put into operation, and rigorous compatibility tests have been conducted on four types of cooling fluids. The project focuses on researching liquid cooling fluids for computing containers, successfully developing cost-effective and efficient cooling fluids. It also studied the compatibility of four cooling fluids: silicone oil, synthetic oil, reclaimed transformer oil, and fluorinated fluid, providing a new solution to address the high energy consumption issues in data centers. Industry insiders believe that with technological advancements and cost reductions, immersive liquid cooling is expected to gradually replace traditional cold plate liquid cooling systems.
