On August 28 (local time), OpenAI unveiled its plan to discontinue providing model services to Cursor, an AI programming platform operated under SpaceX. The company also formally notified SpaceX that the proposed termination date for these services would be November 12, 2026. OpenAI explained that this decision stemmed from past experiences, noting that several companies associated with Musk had previously violated contractual agreements. As a result, OpenAI expressed a lack of confidence that SpaceX would adhere to the technology usage framework outlined in the service terms.

In response to OpenAI’s announcement, Musk took to the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) to express his indifference, stating, “I don’t care at all.” He further criticized OpenAI’s leadership, accusing CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman of being “completely untrustworthy” and alleging that they had “stolen an open-source non-profit organization.”
