Microsoft is in the process of comprehensively enhancing the Copilot and AI capabilities within the Edge browser, while concurrently winding down some of its initially distinctive features. After eliminating the sidebar and Collections features, the file-sharing utility Drop has now also been officially terminated.

The Drop feature was once a boon for users, enabling them to effortlessly drag and share files and text across different devices, including Android and iOS. It harnessed the power of OneDrive cloud storage to facilitate ultra-swift transfers without any constraints on file size, all the while maintaining robust security measures.

At present, Microsoft has issued reminders to users, urging them to back up any text notes that were saved via Drop. However, it's worth noting that files that have already been transferred will remain untouched and accessible in the OneDrive cloud.

The Edge browser now falls under the purview of Microsoft's AI business division, with oversight from the leader of the Copilot project. At this juncture, the management team is concentrating on integrating a diverse array of AI functionalities. This transformation transcends the mere accumulation of AI tools; it represents a strategic shift towards a more intelligent and seamless browsing experience.
