OpenAI is testing the 'Persistent Mode' for the Codex agent, which allows the AI to work continuously until manually suspended, with a maximum runtime of 25 hours. It can proactively plan tasks and save context across sessions. Currently, this feature is in the internal testing phase and there is no official plan for its release yet.
