Barrett Zoph, who left Thinking Machines Lab this year along with Luke Metz and Sam Schoenholz due to disagreements with CEO Mira Murati, joined OpenAI. Now, this co-founder of Thinking Machines Lab has made another career move and will join Google, an Alphabet subsidiary, as Vice President of Research. Google stated that it expects him to bring his professional expertise in reinforcement learning and post-training to the Gemini team. Zoph has previously worked at Google Brain and OpenAI. In September 2024, he left Google to co-found and serve as Chief Technology Officer at Thinking Machines Lab.
