At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office, officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology highlighted that since the inception of the 14th Five-Year Plan, China has witnessed substantial enhancements in both the supply capacity and application scope of foundational and industrial software. Notably, China now leads the world in the number of database products. Moreover, the HarmonyOS mobile operating system has secured its position as the third-largest globally, with the cumulative number of devices within the open-source HarmonyOS ecosystem surpassing 1.35 billion.
During the unveiling ceremony for the Xiangjie G9 and the latest HarmonyOS Intelligent Travel products, Yu Chengdong disclosed that the number of terminal devices operating on HarmonyOS 6 has exceeded 80 million. This system is slated for release in October 2025, with the Huawei Mate 80 series set to be the pioneering devices to incorporate it. Earlier in March of this year, Yu Chengdong also revealed that the aggregate count of terminal devices running HarmonyOS 5 and 6 had already surpassed 47 million, with tens of thousands of new users joining the ecosystem daily. It is anticipated that the number of HarmonyOS terminal devices will exceed 100 million before the onset of winter this year.
