Richard He, head of OpenAI's chip business, stated that during testing, the Jalapeno processor led in two key areas: AI workload processed per unit of power consumption and response speed. The testing compared the Jalapeno chip with NVIDIA's GB300, which was the top-performing product in the public benchmark system used for the evaluation. The Jalapeno chip is the result of a collaboration between OpenAI and Broadcom, with Broadcom manufacturing custom chips for multiple clients. The two companies announced their partnership last year and emphasized the record-breaking development speed of the processor in June this year.
