NVIDIA is currently engaged in discussions to invest in the AI search company Perplexity, with the deal’s valuation potentially surpassing $30 billion. This represents a more than 50% increase compared to its valuation a year ago. Perplexity’s annualized revenue has surged from $250 million to over $750 million, a growth partially fueled by the launch of its AI agent, the "Perplexity Computer." Previously, NVIDIA had contemplated acquiring Perplexity, and in March of this year, Perplexity became a member of NVIDIA’s Nemotron Alliance. To date, Perplexity has secured over $1.7 billion in funding, and its CEO has hinted at plans to consider an initial public offering (IPO) around 2028. This potential investment will further consolidate NVIDIA’s capital deployment within the AI industry chain. Recently, NVIDIA has also invested in AI-related companies such as Poolside, Groq, and Enfabrica, aiming to expand its influence within the AI ecosystem through strategic investments and generate revenue streams. NVIDIA is consistently reinforcing its core position in the AI industry chain through a dual strategy of capital investment and computing power ecosystem development.
