This progress, the report notes, is not the result of sudden technological breakthroughs but rather a product of long-term strategic efforts. Chinese universities, notably Tsinghua University, have cultivated extensive talent networks, while collaborative advancements in open-source technology, an influx of skilled professionals, and enhanced computational efficiency have collectively fueled this rapid growth. The report highlights the pivotal roles of researchers such as Tang Jie, co-founder of Zhipu AI; Yang Zhiling, founder of Moonshot AI; and Liang Wenfeng, founder of DeepSeek, as driving forces behind China’s AI surge.
