Streamer Warren Pandiscia has filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Twitch and its parent company, Amazon, accusing the platform of using a vast amount of live streams and clips from streamers to train Amazon's AI without the streamers' consent or compensation, violating implied agreements and state unfair competition laws. Previously, Twitch announced that the AI training function would be enabled by default, offering only a non-retroactive and channel-bound opt-out option. Its Chief Product Officer stated that if participation were voluntary, no one would opt in, and the platform had already been quietly using streamers' content to train AI as early as 2024. Additionally, Amazon Game Studios once developed a generative AI game, which was later canceled due to team layoffs.
