On August 24th, Alibaba DAMO Academy, in partnership with esteemed institutions including Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, unveiled a groundbreaking AI model designed for liver cancer diagnosis, named DAMO LiON. Leveraging CT imaging technology, this innovative model excels in accurately identifying even the tiniest liver cancer lesions. Throughout a two-month real-world prospective clinical trial, DAMO LiON demonstrated its remarkable capabilities by successfully detecting 15 malignant tumors that had previously gone unnoticed, with the majority measuring approximately 1 centimeter in diameter. This breakthrough enabled affected patients to promptly undergo surgery or receive appropriate drug treatments. The research findings related to this remarkable achievement have been published in the esteemed international academic journal Nature Medicine.
