On August 24, according to The Information, people familiar with the matter said that Nvidia is in talks to invest in AI startup Perplexity as part of an equity financing round. After the investment, Perplexity will be valued at over $30 billion. The current financing round amounts to billions of dollars, representing a more than 50% increase in valuation compared to its previous financing round a year ago. Sources revealed that Perplexity's annualized revenue has surged from less than $250 million at the beginning of the year to over $750 million, partly thanks to the AI agent Perplexity Computer. Nvidia has invested in Perplexity multiple times before, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has said that he often uses Perplexity as his preferred chatbot. Currently, Perplexity has raised a cumulative total of over $1.7 billion from investors including Nvidia, New Enterprise Associates, Accel, and SoftBank.
