At the Lhasa sub-venue event of the 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference, a forum titled ‘Digital Empowerment in Najin, Intelligence Convergence on the Plateau’ drew considerable interest. During the event, the Lhasa Najin Digital Intelligence Research Institute was officially launched, along with the unveiling of the ‘Yangguang Qingyan’ general-purpose Tibetan language large model. This model achieved its technical milestones in November 2025 and was subsequently made available to the public after passing rigorous testing and obtaining regulatory approval. Constructed on a solid foundational model and enriched with vast amounts of multilingual Tibetan data, it boasts a hundred-billion-parameter architecture, significantly boosting its capabilities in understanding and generating Tibetan language content as well as local Tibetan knowledge. Chinese Academy of Engineering member Nyima Tsering noted that, due to constraints in computing power and data availability, there remains potential for enhancing the model’s performance. The research institute will prioritize strengthening computing infrastructure and broadening data resources to facilitate iterative improvements of the model and the development of various multi-parameter versions. The Najin Digital Intelligence Research Institute is a joint initiative by the Liuwu New Area Administrative Committee and Tibet University. By adopting the ‘government-industry-academia-research-application’ model to consolidate resources, it aspires to become a technological hub that supports regional digital industries and the unique economy of the plateau. The event also featured a display of multiple technological advancements and included activities such as signing ceremonies for joint laboratories, experience-sharing sessions on enterprise digital transformation, and technology supply-demand matching events.
