On August 14, LG Electronics announced on Friday its plan to launch a next-generation humanoid robot in the first quarter of 2027. Based on the NVIDIA robotics platform, the robot will be capable of bipedal walking and will be equipped with the NVIDIA Jetson Thor robotics chip module. Its development will rely on NVIDIA's Isaac GR00T foundational model for humanoid robots and the Holoscan for Robotics robot safety system. LG Electronics plans to integrate technologies and capabilities from its key subsidiaries, including actuators from LG Electronics, sensors from LG Innotek, and batteries from LG Energy Solution, for application in this robot. Additionally, LG Electronics and NVIDIA will collaborate comprehensively across three major areas: robotics, AI factories, and mobility.
