On Friday, LG Electronics unveiled its ambitious plan to introduce a bipedal humanoid robot in the first quarter of 2027, leveraging NVIDIA's cutting-edge robotics platform. The landmark memorandum of understanding was signed at NVIDIA's Santa Clara, California headquarters, marking a significant step forward in their collaborative efforts. The robot will harness the power of NVIDIA's Jetson Thor robotics chip module and be built upon NVIDIA's Isaac GR00T foundational model for humanoid robots, along with the robotics safety system Holoscan for Robotics. LG Electronics intends to incorporate technologies from its key subsidiaries into this robot, including actuators from LG Electronics itself, sensors from LG Innotek, and batteries from LG Energy Solution. Furthermore, the two companies are set to embark on a wide-ranging collaboration spanning three key domains: robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) factories, and mobility.
