The Short Message Service (SMS), which has long been considered a relatively insecure means for two-factor authentication, is now under escalating threats from hackers wielding AI tools. In response, Microsoft has made the decision to entirely cease support for SMS verification codes and has devised a detailed plan for its implementation.
