OpenAI has officially released a preview version of the ChatGPT desktop application for Linux, integrating regular conversation, ChatGPT Work, and Codex functionalities. The app provides installation packages in .deb and .rpm formats for x64 and arm64 architectures, supporting mainstream Linux systems such as Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, 26.04 LTS, Debian 13, Fedora 43, and 44. In July this year, OpenAI made significant updates to the desktop application, consolidating chat, work modes, and programming assistant features while allowing users to customize icon styles and retaining original task progress.
