In the latter part of July, NVIDIA's CEO, Jensen Huang, made his inaugural post on platform X, voicing his strong support for open-source AI models and actively participating in the ongoing debate within the industry. A mere three weeks subsequent to this, NVIDIA officially rolled out the Nemotron 3.5 Lightning model. As per the official description, this model is notably lightweight and can operate seamlessly on a single graphics processor within a personal computer. Prior to this, Huang, in collaboration with other tech industry leaders, had collectively urged the U.S. government to back open models, cautioning against the risk of premature restrictions that could potentially drive innovation overseas. The model introduced this time marks NVIDIA's inaugural foray into the realm of open-source models.
