AI-driven attacks now account for a quarter of all malicious data breaches, marking a 56% year-on-year increase. The average loss per such attack has reached $6 million, 20% higher than the average cost of overall data breaches. Among these, 62% of AI-driven attacks target critical infrastructure, with financial services and energy institutions being the hardest hit. AI technology has lowered the barrier for cyberattacks, making them faster and cheaper, while defense costs have risen relatively. The application of AI and automation technologies in security operations can save an average of nearly $2 million in data breach costs, yet a quarter of enterprises have not yet deployed them. Over half of the enterprises have already utilized AI agents for threat detection and containment, but only 18% have used them for vulnerability remediation and management. More than 20% of enterprises have experienced intrusions targeting AI models or application systems, primarily due to weak peripheral systems and improper cloud platform configurations. Currently, enterprises need to eliminate the time lag between vulnerability discovery and remediation by embedding remediation capabilities into the development process to effectively respond at a pace matching the attacks.
