According to The Information, OpenAI is gearing up to unveil a new model series, tentatively dubbed 'Astra,' with a particular emphasis on bolstering the model's proficiency in executing long-duration tasks. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently showcased the model to policymakers and regulators in Washington, underscoring the ability of multiple AI agents to work in tandem over extended periods to tackle intricate projects and sophisticated mathematical conundrums. It has been reported that OpenAI also intends to publish a report elucidating how it cracked 10 previously unsolved mathematical problems, thereby demonstrating Astra's research prowess. At present, the exact release date for Astra remains up in the air, and OpenAI has yet to settle on its final moniker. The model may be christened as GPT-6 or could be introduced as an additional offering within the GPT-5 series.
