As artificial intelligence technology advances at a breakneck pace, textual content freely available on the internet is frequently indiscriminately harvested for use in training datasets. While traditional anti-scraping measures such as robots.txt do exist, they predominantly rely on the voluntary adherence of crawlers and struggle to fully thwart malicious scraping attempts. To tackle this issue, the Brazilian creative studio Seneda & Abrucio has teamed up with the Copenhagen-based font company Playtype to create a novel defensive tool: ShieldFont. This innovative font can effectively deter scraping without depending on crawlers' 'courteous requests'.
