On Thursday, Google rolled out a novel function within the Google Earth application, enabling users to craft imaginary landscapes atop authentic maps through its AI-driven image creator, Nano Banana 2. The intention behind this move was to spark geographical imagination among users. Nevertheless, the feature fell prey to misuse, prompting its immediate removal a mere day post-launch. A representative from Google mentioned that the feature is set to be disabled on Google Earth until more robust safety protocols are put in place.
