Google's parent company Alphabet reported in its Q2 2026 financial results that revenue grew by 24% year-on-year to $119.8 billion. However, free cash flow turned negative at $5.9 billion, compared to nearly $25 billion in the same period last year, marking the first negative turn in decades. As a result, Alphabet's pre-market stock price drop expanded to 5%. The company stated that this was primarily due to significant investments in AI infrastructure, with capital expenditures doubling year-on-year to $44.9 billion.
