On July 21, Microsoft and Mistral AI, a French AI startup, declared the expansion of their strategic partnership, culminating in a multi-billion-dollar agreement. This pact is designed to bolster European AI infrastructure and elevate AI computing capabilities across the continent. As per the agreement, Microsoft will harness Mistral's enhanced GPU infrastructure in Europe to bolster its cloud computing and AI services. This infrastructure will be underpinned by thousands of NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs, a testament to the cutting-edge technology at play. At the product level, the Mistral Medium 3.5 and OCR 4 models have been seamlessly integrated into the Microsoft Foundry platform. Moreover, Mistral Medium 3.5 has also been incorporated into Microsoft Copilot Studio, facilitating its use in intelligent agent applications, document processing, and tailored workflows specific to various industries. Furthermore, the two entities will broaden AI deployment options through Azure and Azure Local, accommodating cloud, cloud-connected, and fully offline environments. This move is aimed at addressing the data compliance needs of industries subject to stringent regulatory requirements, such as finance, healthcare, and manufacturing.
